Stone Wall Detail: Cream Stonework and
New Garden BedThis project transforms a plain front
yard by introducing a striking curved retaining wall crafted from white and cream stones, topped
with a smooth beige cap. The wall creates a focal point that brings texture and architectural
interest to the space. In front of the wall, a variety of small plants have been newly installed
and will grow to add seasonal color and softness. Behind the wall, a gently sculpted grassy
mound enhances the landscape's flow, extending naturally toward the front walkway on the left.
Together, these elements elevate the curb appeal while maintaining a clean and welcoming
aesthetic.
Flowing Lawn and Plantings Extend
Across the Front YardIn this view, the curved
retaining wall guides the eye across a flowing expanse of newly planted grass. The lawn
continues in the same graceful lines beyond the front walkway, creating a cohesive, unified look
across the yard. Fresh plantings add texture and seasonal interest, while a background shrub
promises to become a flowering highlight as it grows and matures. This layered design brings
structure, softness, and long-term beauty to a once-simple front landscape.
From the Front Door: Layered Landscape
with Soft Mounding and Fresh PlantingsFrom the front
entry, this view captures the layered composition of the redesigned front yard. In the
foreground, newly planted shrubs and perennials are set in dark mulch, ready to grow and bring
fullness to the space. The lawn and softly contoured grass mound sit just beyond, adding shape
and movement to the landscape. Framing it all is the curved retaining wall, close enough to
appreciate its elegant form and mix of creamy stone and smooth beige cap. The combination of
plantings, texture, and structure brings new life and interest to what was once a flat, plain
yard.
Closer Look: Stonework Detail and
Growing GardenThis closer view highlights the soft
curve and textural beauty of the stone retaining wall, with its warm mix of cream and white
tones and smooth beige cap. In front, a variety of young plants are just beginning to take root
and will fill in to soften the wall and add seasonal interest. Behind it, the gently shaped
grass mound adds a natural rise to the landscape, giving the front yard subtle dimension and
flow. This shot showcases the balance of structure and softness that defines the refreshed
design.
Before: A Plain Front Yard with
Overgrown Foundation ShrubsPrior to the redesign, the
front yard featured a flat lawn bordered by a dense row of overgrown foundation shrubs, many of
them heavily sheared into rigid shapes. The overall look was simple and static, lacking the
flow, texture, and visual interest the new design would bring. These photos capture the “before”
conditions that set the stage for a more layered and inviting transformation.
In Progress: Wall Foundation Set and
Planting BeginsThis in-progress shot captures the
early stages of the transformation. The base of the curved retaining wall, constructed with
concrete blocks, is in place, forming the structure for what will become a focal point in the
front yard. Plants are being positioned in their new locations, laying the groundwork for a
landscape that will soon feel lush, layered, and full of life. It's the exciting moment when
vision starts becoming reality.
Crafting the Wall: Stonework in
ProgressThis photo offers a behind-the-scenes look at
the retaining wall under construction. Many of the stones have already been carefully set,
showcasing the elegant curve and warm color palette taking shape. In the foreground, the mason's
work table and unplaced stones hint at the craftsmanship involved in building this custom
feature. It's a glimpse into the artistry and precision that bring structure and beauty to the
finished landscape.
